What is HypnoBirthing?
HypnoBirthing® is as much a philosophy as it is a technique. It is a rewarding, relaxing, stress-free method of birthing that is based on the belief that all babies should come into the world gently, in an atmosphere of calm and joy. HypnoBirthing prepares a birthing couple – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually – for an easier, more comfortable and, sometimes, pain-free, birth. Through a well-thought-out program of deep relaxation, self-hypnosis, special breathing techniques, visualisations, affirmations, and education, HypnoBirthing® returns to a woman the art of birthing in a way that allows her to summon her natural birthing instincts and to birth her baby safely and with ease. HypnoBirthing® is based on the belief that severe discomfort does not need to be a natural accompaniment of birthing when a woman is prepared and trusts her birthing body.

calm birth. It is taught over 5X 2.5 hour sessions, run consecutively over 5 weeks.

The course covers the following content:
Breathwork
Like any other muscle, the uterus also requires oxygen to work at its optimum. Hence why we focus heavily on breathwork. Focussing on your breathing also helps you to stay relaxed and calm. You will learn three different breathing techniques.
These include:
● Calm Breath
● Surge Breath
● Birth Breath
Hypnosis
Hypnosis in birthing is not what you think! There will be no dangling watch or people running around like chickens! In fact it is the complete opposite. Throughout the course you practice self hypnosis where you have COMPLETE control over your mind and body. It is basically a deep state of relaxation, or meditative state, which allows us to explore our sub-conscious and change any limiting beliefs we may have about birthing. Self hypnosis is a normal, natural and wonderful state to be in and it helps you stay calm and relaxed throughout the birthing process.
Rainbow Relaxation
This is a relaxation track created by Marie Mongan, the founder of HypnoBirthing International. This is listened to daily and is a form of meditation designed to help you visualise your birth, think calm thoughts, connect with your baby, and relax into your body.
Affirmations and Visualisations
When you are changing the way you think, you need to practice, practice and more practice! Affirmations are a daily reminder of your goals and wants for this birth. Visualisations are techniques to help you create a clear picture in your mind of exactly how you want your birth to be. When you combine purposeful affirmations, with clear visualisations, they become extremely powerful in helping change the way we think and feel about birth.
Education
Knowledge is POWER. We educate you on the history of birth, so you understand where these subconscious fears have come from, as well explain the physiology of birth so you understand how the uterus works and how your beautiful hormones, such as oxytocin, can contribute positively to the birthing outcome – it is natures perfect design! The more you know, the less you fear, the more you are able to trust the process and relax into the birth of your dreams!
